Cosmonauts finalize sealing crack onboard ISS - Energia Corp

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Crewmembers of the International Space Station (ISS) have finalized repairs of the hull of the Zvezda module, the press service of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, a subsidiary of Roscosmos, said.

"The crew of the International Space Station has completed repairs of the Zvezda module hull. In the coming days, Sergei Ryzhikov and Sergei Kud-Sverchkov will close hatches in the Zvezda module to check the pressure level," Energia said.

Yury Gidzenko, deputy head of the Energia Corporation's Center for Flight Operation of Spacecraft and Launch Vehicles, said earlier that two cracks had been found onboard the station.

The ISS crew sealed the second crack on Wednesday.

Cosmonauts covered the first crack with an armored patch last week. Crewmembers drilled two holes on the sides of the crack in order to reduce tension and prepare the crack for sealing. After the holes were drilled, the crewmembers cleaned the surface with an alcohol wipe and covered it with a special sealant.
