TBILISI. March 11 (Interfax) - Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani links the recent statement by Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) head Sergei Naryshkin, which alleges that the United States is interfering in the internal political processes in Georgia, to Russia's concerns about the strengthening of cooperation between Washington and Tbilisi.
Naryshkin's statement shows that Russian officials "are trying to cause confusion and nihilism in Georgian society," Zalkaliani told reporters on Thursday.
Georgian-U.S. cooperation is now at the highest level in all spheres, he said, adding that he believes that concerns Russia.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry earlier said Naryshkin's allegations that the U.S. plans to start working on supporting the Georgian opposition and weakening the positions of the ruling party Georgian Dream are aimed at causing destabilization in Georgia.
