Russian Duma candidates can campaign in DPR - DPR head

DONETSK. March 16 (Interfax) - Candidates running in the elections to Russia's State Duma this September will be allowed to campaign in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), DPR head Denis Pushilin said.

"It's obvious that, because we want to fully participate in the elections to the State Duma, the pre-election process should happen here just as it does in Russia. Of course, there's no question about any obstacles or approval processes," Pushilin said on his official website on Tuesday.

At present, 224,000 DPR residents have been issued Russian passports via a fast-track procedure, he said.
