Russia will respond to deployment of new U.S. missiles in Europe, Japan, S. Korea - Shoigu

MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - Russia will respond appropriately if the United States deploys new missiles in Europe, Japan, and South Korea, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in an interview with the Kazakh news website tengrinews.kz.

"We have assumed an obligation not to deploy weapons of this kind if they are not deployed in Europe. That means we won't do it, either. But if such weapons are placed there, we will naturally respond in due course," Shoigu said.

"The same is true for the east of our country. Of course, I mean a possible deployment in the territory of Japan and South Korea," he said.
