Twelve foreign NGOs declared undesirable in Russia in 2020 - prosecutor general

MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - Twelve foreign non-governmental organizations were declared undesirable in Russia in 2020, and this is 40% of all such decisions adopted since the relevant law took effect, Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov said.

"The importance of protecting state interests from foreign interference is growing. Over the past year, the activities of 12 foreign and international non-governmental organizations have been recognized as undesirable in Russia," Krasnov said at an expanded meeting of the board of the Prosecutor General's Office, which was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"This is 40% of all such decisions for all six years the law has been in effect," Krasnov said.
