Chemezov to replace Serdyukov as chairman of UAC board of directors

MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - Head of Rostec Sergei Chemezov will become the chairman of the board of directors of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), a post previously held by UAC head and former Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, the Rostec press service said.

"Given the importance of this objective, I've made the decision to personally oversee these corporate reforms and to head up the UAC board of directors," the press service quoted Chemezov as saying on Thursday.

Chemezov will personally supervise all reforms within the UAC, it said.

"These systemic reforms are intended to update the company's structure and help solve issues of its financial sustainability, boost the competitive edge of domestic civil planes, and cover Russia's considerable demand for advanced passenger airplanes," Chemezov said.
