MINSK. March 18 (Interfax) - The Russian Aerospace Forces relocated some of their military aircraft to Belarusian airfields during a joint staff exercise, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Telegram on Thursday.
"The staff exercise was aimed at practicing planning the use of the air force and air defense forces in a defensive operation by a Belarusian-Russian regional force and the relocation of Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft to Belarusian airfields," it said.
The participants in the exercise also practiced "managing the subordinate military units and garrisons comprising the common regional air defense system and protecting the western air boundary of the Union State as part of a defensive operation by the Belarusian-Russian regional force," it said.
The record of the military actions in Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh was taken into account in planning the use of the forces, it said.
The exercise took place on March 16 to 18. It involved operative groups of the 6th Air Force and Air Defense Forces Army of the Western Military District, the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Forces Army of the Southern Military District, and the 14th Air Force and Air Defense Forces Army of the Central Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.
"The joint training has helped enhance cohesion between military command centers, units, and military garrisons, as well as the level of training of officials," the Defense Ministry said.
