BLAGOVESHCHENSK. March 19 (Interfax) - Service members of tank, missile, and artillery units in Russia's Eastern Military District are practicing firing with the use of a new methodology at ranges in the Amur region, the Trans-Baikal territory, and Buryatia, the district's press service said.
"S-400 and Buk anti-aircraft missile systems conducted long-range combat firing upon Saman and Armavir air targets at the Telemba specialized training ground in Buryatia. Anti-aircraft missiles were launched at large and small distances and altitudes," it said.
According to the exercise scenario, a simulated enemy stationed some 50 kilometers away prepared an offensive at the Tryokhrechye range in the Amur region. The command decided to use Malka long-range guns in combination with an Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicle.
-72B3 tanks for the first time conducted long-range firing from sheltered firing positions at the Tsugol joint-force range in the Trans-Baikal territory. The tanks, who acted as part of a joint force, did some calculations to fire based on reconnaissance data. The firing upon a simulated enemy's targets located more than eight kilometers away was conducted by tank gunners from a false artillery launching area, using 125mm automatic tank guns and standard projectiles and without fire adjustment.
