New-generation armored towing vehicle to be built for Russian Armed Forces

MOSCOW. March 19 (Interfax) - A new-generation armored towing vehicle is to be developed for the Russian Armed Forces to replace the MT-LB, which has been in service for nearly 60 years, the Defense Ministry told journalists on Thursday.

"The development of a concept for building multipurpose diesel engines and a new-generation transporter to replace the MT-LB transporter" were addressed at a conference hosted by Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko, it said.

The conference took place at the 21st Research and Experimental Institute of Military Automobiles and was attended by representatives of the Ground and Airborne Forces and defense industry enterprises. The participants discussed the efficiency of the implementation of the state defense order in the area of the Defense Ministry's R&D.
