PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. March 19 (Interfax) - Units of radiation, chemical, and biological protection forces stationed in the northeastern part of Russia for the first time used latest mechanical smoke generators to camouflage the launching positions of S-400 air defense missile systems during an exercise in Kamchatka, the Pacific Fleet reported on Thursday.
"Special TDA-3 mechanical smoke generators designed to camouflage hardware and important facilities covered a field position of an S-400 air defense missile battalion with a motionless aerosol screen protecting it from precision-guided munitions," it said.
The units used two TDA-3 smoke generators, which was enough to completely mask the launchers. The screen was laid not only at the primary and backup launching positions, but also along the route of the military vehicles' movement.
"About 4,000 liters of smoke mixture and its components was used during the exercise. The crews practiced working under below-freezing temperatures in field conditions," it said.
