MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - A delegation of the Keldysh Research Institute incorporated in Roscosmos has discussed the possible construction of desalination plants in Egypt with Egyptian Ambassador to Russia Ihab Nasr, Roscosmos said.
"The conversation was focused on projects pursued by the Keldysh Center in the area of water treatment systems and the construction of desalination plants of various output," it said.
The Egyptian side displayed an interest on implementing process flows for manufacturing water treatment equipment in its territory.
"Special significance was attached to the implementation of water treatment know-how for the hotel business industry and oil and gas industry companies, as well as the reuse of brackish water in the agribusiness sector," Roscosmos said.
The parties agreed to thoroughly study each other's interests and proposals on these projects, it said.
Roscosmos said on March 5 that its CEO, Dmitry Rogozin, discussed space cooperation with the Egyptian ambassador.
The parties attached importance and priority to "preparing an intergovernmental framework agreement on space between Russia and Egypt, and Egyptian specialists are studying its blueprint now," Roscosmos said.
A Russian Soyuz-2 launch vehicle placed the Egyptsat-A remote sensing satellite into orbit in 2019. The satellite was developed by Russia's Energia Rocket and Space Corporation.
A previous Egyptsat satellite was destroyed in an accident in 2015.
Rogozin said in 2019 that Roscosmos was in negotiations on sending an Egyptian cosmonaut into space.
