MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - New United States sanctions could affect the aviation industry and lead to the severing of effective contracts, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said.
"Say you have contracts in all sectors. The aviation industry can serve as a live example where supplies of various Western products are guaranteed. And suppose [a U.S. company] suddenly severs a contract at the decision of some guy. Can business relations really be built in such a situation?" Borisov said at a forum dealing with the State Order on Wednesday.
"You and I read every morning that the U.S. has either imposed or is drawing up new sanctions on Russia. Europe actively supports them, and Latvia and Ukraine have regularly favored their expansion. The administration of [U.S. President Joe] Biden is actually planning to introduce CoCom [Coordinating Committee for Multilateral Export Controls, which existed during the Cold War to embargo exports of certain products to Eastern Bloc countries] lists. That is, they would ban exports to Russia of whatever high technology products they see fit," Borisov said.
