MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - Another group of 36 satellites of the British OneWeb company has successfully separated from the Fregat booster stage of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle (LV) launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Roscosmos said.
"All 36 OneWeb communications satellites successfully separated from the Fregat upper stage" and reached the final orbit, the state corporation said on Twitter.
As a result of the launch, the number of orbited OneWeb satellites has reached 146.
In June 2015, Roscosmos and Arianespace signed a contract for 21 commercial launches of 672 space communications satellites, made by UK firm OneWeb, atop Soyuz-2 rockets with Fregat upper stages from Baikonur, Vostochny and Kourou in French Guinea. The contract was worth $1.2 billion.
Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin said earlier that three launches would be conducted under the federal space program, including the Luna-25 mission, from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in 2021.
