YEREVAN. March 25 (Interfax) - The Armenian parliament adopted a law on Thursday tightening the penalty for high treason and espionage.
From now on, high treason will be punishable with life imprisonment and confiscation of assets, while convicted spies will face from 12 to 20 years in prison.
Previously, high treason was punishable with ten to 15 years in prison with or without confiscation of assets, while espionage was punishable with eight to 15 years of imprisonment.
