Date of Putin-Merkel-Macron videoconference yet to be coordinated - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. March 29 (Interfax) - The date of a videoconference between Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel has yet to be set, however, the videoconference will not be limited to the affairs of Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We are continuing the coordination process with Berlin and Paris. We will tell you as soon as the coordination brings concrete results," Peskov said.

German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said earlier that the Putin-Merkel-Macron videoconference was not held on Monday.

As to why the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the videoconference had not been planned, Peskov said, "This is not an event to be held in the Normandy Four's format."

"There are lots of other issues to be discussed. This is not the Normandy Four," he added.

As to whether the escalation of tensions in Donbas would top the videoconference's agenda, Peskov said, "Obviously, it is impossible to hold a discussion in this format without touching upon the Donbas situation. Clearly, the item will be on the agenda one way or another, but it is not the only one."

Journalists asked Peskov what else could be discussed by the leaders of the three countries.

"I'd rather not make any announcements just yet. We will tell you when the meeting is definitively scheduled," he said.
