Russian Federation Council speaker cautions Kyiv authorities against resuming military action in Donbas

MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Resumption by Kyiv of military action in Donbas is unacceptable, as it will lead to a new civil war, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.

"I would like to caution the Kyiv authorities against hasty steps and about the unacceptability of resuming any military action. That is a path toward resuming civil war. It's unacceptable to use such methods to solve issues related to an internal Ukrainian conflict in our times in the center of Europe," Matviyenko told reporters on Wednesday.

It is profitable for the Kyiv authorities to maintain tensions around Donbas, she said.

There is no alternative to the Minsk Agreements, and Russia insists on their implementation, Matviyenko said.
