MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - The leaders of Russia, Germany, and France agreed in negotiations on Tuesday that a Normandy-format summit on Donbas should be arranged, but this should happen after political advisors are engaged more actively, including to implement the agreements reached in Paris, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
"As concerns a summit, indeed, everyone said that a summit is necessary, but at the same time, they acknowledged that nobody is forgetting the Paris summit, and everyone bears in mind that not everything is going well with the implementation of the Paris agreements," Peskov told journalists.
"Therefore, they emphasized the idea that the negotiating process at the level of political advisors should be intensified," he said.
There is hardly any reason for the heads of state to meet to acknowledge the absence of any progress and once again express their deep concerns about the escalation of tensions along the line of contact, he said.
"All concerns have been expressed on numerous occasions, and the absence of progress in implementing the previous agreements has also been acknowledged repeatedly. Therefore, the political advisors should really work more actively now to provide preconditions for such a potential summit," Peskov said.
