Ukrainian army's combat capability strengthens negotiating positions in settling Donbas conflict - Zelensky

KYIV. April 2 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces are capable of opposing any aggression, which makes Ukraine's positions stronger in negotiations on settling the conflict in Donbas in a diplomatic way, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

"Concerning the situation in the eastern part of Ukraine. The preservation of a full ceasefire is a prerequisite for continuing the difficult, but very essential negotiations in the Minsk and Normandy formats. I'll stress once again that our army is capable of offering resistance to anyone. And this strengthens our positions for a diplomatic settlement. Precisely a diplomatic settlement, which Ukraine has chosen to reintegrate the temporarily occupied territories and return our people," Zelensky said in a video following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on Friday.

Following this path, Ukraine enjoys the full and unwavering support of its international partners, particularly Europe and the United States, he said.

"The conversation that I had with U.S. President Joe Biden today confirms this. We substantively discussed the situation in Donbas. President Biden assured me that Ukraine will never be left face-to-face with Russia's aggression," Zelensky said.
