MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Turkey has notified Russia of the planned passage of United States warships to the Black Sea under the Montreux Convention, the Russian embassy in Ankara told Interfax on Friday.
"The U.S., as a signatory to the Montreux Convention, has completed the procedures stipulated by the convention for passage to the Black Sea. Turkey, in compliance with the convention, has notified its signatories of the passage of military ships from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea and back," the embassy said when asked whether Ankara has notified Moscow of Washington's plans.
