PYATIGORSK. April 12 (Interfax) - The Yessentuki City court has arrested 14 people implicated in a criminal case involving the plotting of a terrorist attack in Kislovodsk, Stavropol Territory, the court press service told Interfax.
"All 14 people implicated in this criminal case have been taken into custody," it said.
The Federal Security Service public relations center earlier said a militant who planned an attack on law enforcement officials with explosive substances and three people associated with him and suspected of financing the ISIL terrorist organization, banned in Russia, had been detained in Kislovodsk.
Last week, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Daniil Kamnev, Sabilya Mamedova, Timurlan Goguyev, Gegam Rostomyan, Amil Gaziyev, Alexander Bazhenov, Murat Apsov, Rustam Arov, Issa Bogatyryov, Dmitry Ledenev, Gadzhi Magomedov, Radzhab Magomedov, Abumuslim Fatullayev, and Imanali Khadzhiyev based on the articles of the Criminal Code dealing with the organization of and participation in an extremist organization, preparations for a terrorist attack, and illegal production and storage of explosive devices.
According to investigators, Goguyev, who is implicated in the case, organized the work of an international religious association "that was not a legal entity and was prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation" in Kislovodsk in 2017. It comprised all people implicated in the case.
They promoted their cell, recruited new members and disseminated religious literature in the period between 2017 and April 2, 2021.
Kamnev and his girlfriend Mamedova planned to blow up the administrative building of the Russian Interior Ministry's department for the city of Kislovodsk on April 5, 2021. However, their plans were averted during operational search activities.
Searches of the suspects' residences yielded prohibited religious literature, small arms, as well components for making explosive devices.
