BAKU. April 13 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that he discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin information that fragments of Iskander-M missiles were found in Karabakh, and the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has forwarded an official letter to this effect to Russia's Defense Ministry.
"I had a phone conversation with my Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on April 1. As you know, the agenda of such phone conversations is usually agreed by the two sides and joint, coordinated information is provided. But I don't conceal anything from the Azerbaijani people and believe that the Azerbaijani people need to know everything. We discussed this issue with [Putin]," Aliyev said on Tuesday at a conference titled New Vision for South Caucasus: post-conflict development and cooperation.
"Acting on my orders, the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan has sent an official letter with photos and evidence. But we haven't received any reply yet," he said.
At the same time, Aliyev described the Armenian authorities' statements regarding the use of these missiles as "strange."
"At one point, they speak about unexploded missiles, then they say that it's a secret. It means that they were used. We're awaiting an official reply from Yerevan. I can tell you more: we have enough information, but we're awaiting official clarification," he said.
