MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - The proposal made by United States President Joe Biden to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in a third country suggests the former's seriousness of intention and keenness not to postpone the matter, Federation Council Speaker Konstantin Kosachyov said.
"To me this is proof that Biden, since he has been the initiator of such a format, is interested in this meeting being held fairly quickly," Kosachyov said on the Rossiya-24 television channel.
Had Biden proposed the meeting, say, in Washington, that could prompt "very long and not very promising discussions," he said.
"His suggesting a third country means that this offer of a meeting was made in earnest. Good," Kosachyov said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Kremlin's press service said that Biden had proposed a face-to-face meeting in a telephone conversation with Putin initiated by the U.S.
