Russia to react to Biden's proposal to hold Russia-U.S. summit without haste - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Russia will not rush a response to U.S. President Joe Biden's proposal to hold a Russia-U.S. summit, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"No, of course, no one will rush here," he said in an interview with Channel One, responding to a question as to whether there is an understanding as to when Moscow will respond to this proposal made by the United States.

"It is very important that such initiatives and words about the need for dialogue correlate with real deeds," Peskov said.

Biden's proposal for a meeting with Putin was new and Moscow will thoroughly consider it, he said.

This initiative "will be studied before a decision is worded and substantive work begins through the diplomatic agencies," Peskov said.

Responding to a question as to whether this dialogue is connected to the aggravation of the Ukrainian issue, Peskov said: "This issue was addressed, and the president, as usual, commented on what is happening."

In a recent phone conversation, Biden suggested to Putin meeting in a third country in the coming months.
