Libyan PM, Putin discuss Libya settlement, bilateral relations

MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken on the phone with the prime minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, who is paying a visit to Russia, the Kremlin press service said.

"Abdul Hamid Dbeibah expressed his gratitude for the delivery of a batch of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine to Libya," the press service said.

The Libya settlement process was discussed in detail, it said.

"Vladimir Putin welcomed the establishment of the country's central authorities for the transitional period, which will prepare and hold national elections at the end of the year. The readiness of Russia to continue the promotion of the intra-Libyan political process for the sake of long-term stability in Libya, the strengthening of its sovereignty and unity, and sustainable socioeconomic development, was affirmed," the press service said.

"Given the vast experience of mutually advantageous cooperation between the two states, it has been agreed to start considering prospective areas of the development of bilateral relations in a variety of spheres," the press service said.

Putin congratulated the Libyan prime minister and the entire people of Libya on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
