DPR says 2 shells fired on Donetsk, LPR reports 2 ceasefire breaches in past day

DONETSK/LUHANSK/KYIV. April 16 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces have mounted a mortar attack on Donetsk, the mission of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) said.

"A 120mm mortar fired two shells on Donetsk (Volvo Center area) at 8:35 a.m.," the DPR mission to the JCCC said in a statement on Friday.

The mission of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) to the JCCC, in turn, reported two attacks of the Ukrainian army targeting LPR territory in the past day.

"Ukrainian armed formations committed two violations of the ceasefire in the past day," it said.

Those strikes targeted districts of Kalynove and Zolote-5 and involved grenade launchers of different types, it said.

"Reports on civilian casualties and destruction are being verified," it said.

Kyiv, in turn, said that there have been no ceasefire violations and no Ukrainian personnel have been wounded in Donbas since the beginning of Friday.

However, the press center of the headquarters of Kyiv's Joint Forces Operation in Donbas said that three ceasefire breaches were recorded in the past day, including "a remote controlled mine planting operation using an unmanned aerial vehicle."
