Putin hosts Security Council meeting to discuss response to U.S. sanctions - Peskov

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted a Russian Security Council meeting on Friday to discuss military development and Russia's response to the United States sanctions, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"The meeting focused on the development of military capability," Peskov said.

The president also informed the participants about his international telephone contacts this week.

"There was a conversation on response measures to the sanctions the U.S. imposed on our country yesterday," Peskov said.

The participants also addressed some routine issues on the domestic socioeconomic agenda.
