Azerbaijani troops attempted to carry out logistic support works in border conflict zone - Armenian Defense Ministry

YEREVAN. May 17 (Interfax) - The units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces staying in Armenian territory have attempted to carry out logistic support works at night, the Armenian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

"At night the Azerbaijani side attempted to perform certain works on logistic support, which was suppressed by units of the Armenian Armed Forces. The Armenian side is controlling the situation in all the three border areas where the Azerbaijani troops attempted to make advances. The Azerbaijani troops have been stripped of any opportunity to replenish arms and other means," the press service for the Armenian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The situation is stable; the Azerbaijani troops are not performing any engineer reinforcing works, it said.

"The talks on solving the situation will continue at 2 p.m. today," it said.

The administration of the town of Goris in Armenia's Syunik region said on Wednesday, May 12, that Azerbaijani forces were violating the republic's border. Armenia formally addressed the Collective Security Treaty Organization over the situation in the Syunik region. Armenia's Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide military assistance.
