BAKU. May 31 (Interfax) - Baku supports the international community's calls for peacefully defusing tensions on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and delimitating and demarcating this border, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Leyla Abdullayeva said.
"We have said repeatedly that we support the settlement of the border tensions through negotiations, and we also support the international community's calls for the delimitation and demarcation of the border between the two states. As is well known, Azerbaijan has also supported the proposal on setting up a trilateral commission for the delimitation and demarcation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia," Abdullayeva said in a statement.
At the same time, the territorial integrity of both countries must be respected during the border delimitation and demarcation, she said.
"Relations between states can be normalized, the delimitation and demarcation of the border can be started, and finally, a solid foundation for a peaceful coexistence can be laid down only on the basis of strict observance of international law, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of borders," she said.
