Russian, French, German FMs in phone call confirm OSCE Minsk Group's role in talks between Azerbaijan, Armenia - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - One of the subjects discussed during the phone call of Russian, French and German foreign ministers was the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the implementation process of the provisions of the statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia of November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"The importance of the strict observance of the ceasefire and the need for the political and diplomatic settlement of emerging disagreements were emphasized. The ministers confirmed the role of the OSCE Minsk Group in the negotiating process between Azerbaijan and Armenia," the ministry said.

The Russian side pointed out that "any involvement of international organizations is only possible with the consent of Baku and Yerevan," it said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas have had a telephone call on Monday.

The ministers discussed a number of items on the international agenda.
