Convicted U.S. citizen Reed leaves FSIN infirmary upon recovery from Covid-19

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - U.S. citizen Trevor Reed, who was convicted in Russia for attacking police officers in Moscow, has recovered from Covid-19, the press bureau of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) Moscow department said in a statement seen by Interfax on Wednesday.

"Convict Trevor Reed was discharged from Infirmary No. 77 of the Russian FSIN, where he was receiving therapy, upon his recovery on June 8. It was an asymptomatic case," the statement said.

Reed received "full medical care," it said.

A number of media outlets said earlier that Reed had contracted Covid-19.

Moscow's Golovinsky District Court sentenced Reed to nine years in a general penitentiary in July 2020 for attacking two police officers in Moscow. Reed pleaded not guilty and told the court that he did not remember the incident, as he was drunk.
