YEREVAN. July 7 (Interfax) - Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has briefed Russian President Vladimir Putin on the volatile situation on the border with Azerbaijan at a meeting in Moscow.
"It is quite volatile on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. We have talked about this on many occasions. Here we have a source of constant concern for two months already. I hope we will be able to compare notes on this issue today," Pashinyan said.
Azerbaijani forces entered Armenia's territory in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions on May 12-13. This prompted Armenia to appeal to the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Pashinyan has also asked the Russian president to provide assistance to Armenia.
Speaking on June 12, Pashinyan said he was discussing the deployment of Russian border guards and international monitors in the border area stretching from the eastern to the southern part of Armenia.
