MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The cessation of the operations of the International Space Station (ISS) is slated for 2028, Roscosmos should launch the operations of a new Russian orbital station by this time, the state corporation said in a statement released following a meeting of its Scientific and Technological Board.
"The board recommended that the Roscosmos state corporation make a decision to begin technical work on the design of the new Russian orbital space station, whether as part of the ISS or as an independent national space station, envisaging the drafting of the design project of the station and the inclusion of this work into the federal space program 2025, in order to avoid risks posed by the technical sate of the Russian segment of the ISS and the cessation of its operation planned for 2028," the statement said.
