MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The Russian military has reported numerous flights performed by foreign aircraft near the national border over the past week: radar stations have monitored 40 reconnaissance planes.
"Forty reconnaissance planes and ten reconnaissance drones of foreign states were conducting aerial reconnaissance near the border and were monitored by Russian radar stations," the Russian Defense Ministry said in materials published by the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
"No violations of the state border were allowed to happen," the ministry said
Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said earlier that Russia was seeing high reconnaissance and demonstration activity of NATO planes and ships near its border.
