Admiralty Shipyards finishes Magadan sub's contractor trials in Baltic Sea

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The contractor sea trials of the Project 636.3 large diesel-electric submarine Magadan have been completed at the Admiralty Shipyards enterprise, Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) said.

"The Magadan has successfully performed all planned submersions, including deep-sea ones. All systems and mechanisms of the submarine functioned normally, in accordance with their stated tactical and technical characteristics," according to a statement published on the USC website.

The submarine's sea trials were conducted at ranges of the Baltic Fleet, the corporation said.

The Magadan is the third submarine of this series built for the Russian Pacific Fleet. It was floated out on March 26 of this year, when it was 91% ready. The submarine's construction began on November 1, 2019. It will join the Russian Navy in November 2021, according to the statement.
