Electronic countermeasures drill conducted near Belgorod

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Electronic warfare troops from the Vislenskaya division have disrupted mock enemy communications and navigation systems during a tactical special exercise in the Belgorod region, the Western Military District stated on Monday.

"Thanks to having 'dazzled' a mock enemy during an exercise, joint operation was practiced with the Msta-B howitzers and the Sani self-propelled mortar which destroyed previously detected 'enemy' positions," the statement said.

"Using Borisoglebsk-2 electronic systems the troops surrounded themselves with a radar dome to rule out a possibility of mock enemy drones discovering the field station.

"After measures to protect their own positions, electronic warfare specialists proceeded to carrying out a radio-electronic strike. The troops conducted reconnaissance and analyzed intelligence on the basis of reception of electromagnetic radiation, located the 'enemy' and suppressed the mock enemy's systems of field communications and air-gunners within a distance of 100 kilometers," the statement said.
