Bastion missile systems destroy mock enemy ships in exercise in Kamchatka

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. Aug 10 (Interfax) - Bastion anti-ship missile systems of the Russian Pacific Fleet's coastal forces stationed in Kamchatka have destroyed a group of mock enemy ships during an exercise at a fleet training range, the press service of the Eastern Military District said.

"During the exercise, servicemen of the Pacific Fleet's missile formation practiced deployment of vehicles from a motor pool and their march to firing positions. As they reached the designated area, Bastion missile systems were rapidly deployed and started to monitor the situation at the sea," the press service said.

Targets imitating mock enemy ships were detected, and Bastion systems performed electronic missile launches, which successfully hit all targets, the press service said.

ASW corvettes from the water protection formation stationed in northeastern Russia impersonated the mock enemy.

The servicemen also accomplished the tasks of camouflaging and protecting the position area.

The exercise involved over 200 servicemen and more than 40 pieces of military and special hardware, the press service said.
