Unrecognized NKR denies Azerbaijani Defense Ministry report on new attacks on Karabakh contact line

YEREVAN. Aug 13 (Interfax) - The Defense Ministry of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has denied that there has been an attack on Azerbaijani army positions in the vicinity of Shusha and other districts along the contact line, as reported by Baku.

"The statement of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, according to which units of the NKR Defense Army opened fire on Azerbaijani army positions in Yukhari Veysalli, Sighnag, and in the vicinity of Shushi [the Azerbaijani name is Shusha], is untrue," the NKR Defense Ministry said.

"Azerbaijan is preparing the ground for new provocations by making false statements of the kind," it said.

"The units of the NKR Defense Army are committed to the ceasefire and take countermeasures for the sole purpose of deterring Azerbaijani provocations," the ministry said.
