Japarov tasks Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry with swift evacuation of Kyrgyz citizens from Afghanistan

BISHKEK. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov is briefed on the situation in Afghanistan every hour, the presidential press service said on Monday.

"Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov is closely monitoring the situation unfolding in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on a permanent basis," the press service said.

According to the press service, the president receives hourly information from the State Committee for National Security, the Security Council Secretariat and the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan.

"Sadyr Japarov has tasked the relevant government agencies with continuing comprehensive monitoring of the developments in Afghanistan. The Foreign Ministry has been ordered to maintain permanent contact with Kyrgyz citizens temporarily stationed in Afghanistan and to step up measures for the provision of their security and swift evacuation," the press service said.

In addition, government agencies have been tasked with intensifying the effort aimed at providing and strengthening of regional security together with regional countries and closely coordinating actions in this area.

The Taliban, which is banned in Russia, took over Kabul on Sunday, and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
