ASHGABAT. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Ashgabat hopes that new government institutions in Afghanistan will be formed with the broad participation of all ethnic groups, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Official Ashgabat stands for the soonest possible normalization in Afghanistan and believes that new government institutions there will be formed promptly within the legal framework and with the broad participation of all ethnic groups residing in Afghanistan," the statement said.
"The Turkmen side underlines that Turkmenistan has always been and remains committed to domestic political stability and security in Afghanistan and the wellbeing of the fraternal Afghan people, consistent with the principles of friendship and neighborliness and the historical, cultural, and civilizational unity of the peoples of the two countries. At the same time, Turkmenistan is a staunch supporter of the peaceful settlement of all problems in Afghanistan using political and diplomatic means and methods," it said.
"As a good neighbor of Afghanistan and a country with a status of permanent neutrality recognized by the United Nations, Turkmenistan will carry on its activity consistent with the principles and norms of the UN Charter in order to provide comprehensive support to the people of Afghanistan and to promote peace, civic accord, and stability in the country, as well as the economic, social, and humanitarian development of Afghanistan," the statement said.
