ASHGABAT. Aug 19 (Interfax) - Turkmenistan has opened its airspace to foreign aircraft carrying evacuees from Afghanistan, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry's press service said on Thursday.
"As known, a number of countries are evacuating their citizens from Afghanistan. Hence, Turkmenistan, acting in compliance with international obligations, including those deriving from international humanitarian law, is opening its airspace for the transportation of the aforementioned category of persons by aircraft of foreign states," the press service said.
