Russian and Turkish troops continuing to patrol border area in Syria's Aleppo province

ALEPPO, Syria. Aug 20 (Interfax) - The Russian Armed Forces' military police units together with Turkish servicemen are continuing to patrol the area near the border in the Aleppo province in northern Syria, Russian military police spokesman Viktor Sosyura told reporters.

"The following tasks are being tackled: maintaining the initiative of the Russian Armed Forces' presence and stabilization of the political and economic situation in the region," Sosyura said.

The Russian air force is backing the patrol mission, he said. The convoys of military hardware are transiting key points of the province.

The Russian and Turkish servicemen are also finding Islamist militants' secret underground caches during the patrol, he said.
