NUR-SULTAN. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Five of the people injured in the explosions at a military unit in southern Kazakhstan remain in intensive care, Saken Zhumashev, deputy chief physician of the city multidisciplinary hospital of Taraz, the administrative center of the Zhambyl region, said.
"Ninety-three patients arrived at the hospital. Of them, 37 were hospitalized. Five patients are in intensive care. Two of them suffered severe burns. Their condition is serious, but stable. A plane from Almaty with critical care physicians on board has arrived for them. These patients are now being examined," the state-run news website BaigeNews.kz quoted Zhumashev as saying.
The 93 patients include civilians, he said.
"Out of these 93 patients, half are military personnel, half are firefighters, and ten patients are local residents," Zhumashev said.
A search is currently underway for three people who have been reported missing by their relatives, he said.
"Their parents have been looking for them since yesterday. Three have contacted us. These people are not on our list," Zhumashev said.
