Russian troops in Tajikistan practice electronic launches of S-300 air defense systems

YEKATERINBURG. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Amid the latest events in Afghanistan, Russian troops stationed in Tajikistan have held an exercise conducting electronic launches of an S-300 long-range air defense system upon five aerial targets of a simulated enemy, the Central Military District said on Monday.

"Crews of S-300PS air defense missile systems practiced repelling a simulated enemy's airstrike upon facilities of the 201st Military Base, hitting over five aerial targets during an exercise in Tajikistan," it said.

"The military locked on aerial targets imitating a simulated enemy's modern air attack weapons used from different directions and at different altitudes, tracked them, and electronically launched guided missiles to intercept them," it said.
