Ukroboronprom signs $500 mln contract with U.S. company Global Ordnance

KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Global Ordnance has signed a long-term cooperation agreement with the Ukrainian state defense concern Ukroboronprom to the tune of $500 million, the Florida-based company announced.

"This strategic agreement will enable the government of the Ukraine to leverage Global Ordnance's vast supply chain and manufacturing partnerships in the United States and around the world to obtain a myriad of defense items, technologies, and production capabilities that are needed to strengthen the Ukraine's Military and Defense Industry infrastructure," Global Ordnance said.

The company noted its long-time relationship with Ukraine, including on defense imports and exports such as military rifles and weapon systems. It also includes strategic partnership with Zarya Ltd (Rubizhne, Luhansk region) which supplies TNT (trinitrotoluene) for U.S. army and other service branches.

Also, Global Ordnance asked other Ukrainian defense suppliers to support and deliver military equipment for its contracts with the U.S. army regarding non-standard ammunition and weapons.

On its website, Ukroboronprom confirmed the signing of the contract with Global Ordnance, without stating its amount, though noting that, with other cooperation agreements, signed with Lockheed Martin Corporation and L3Harris Technologies during President Volodymyr Zelensky's U.S. visit, the total sum with Global Ordnance included is $2.5 billion.
