First deputy defense minister, General Staff chief appointed in Kazakhstan

NUR-SULTAN. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Marat Khusainov first deputy defense minister and chief of the Kazakh Armed Forces General Staff, the Kazakh presidential press service said in a statement.

"On the order of the head of state, Marat Rakhimovich Khusainov has been appointed first deputy defense minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and chief of the General Staff of the Kazakh Armed Forces," the statement, published on the presidential website, said.

Before his promotion, Khusainov served as a deputy chief of the Kazakh Armed Forces' General Staff.
