Russia's Arktika-M satellite put into operation - Roscosmos

MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - The State Commission has completed flight tests of the Arktika-M satellite, Roscosmos said.

"The State Commission considered the results of flight tests, decided to complete the tests, and recommended that the Arktika-M system with the spacecraft Arktika-M No. 1 be put into operation," the statement said.

The Arktika-M remote sensing satellite was launched on February 28, 2021.

The Arktika space-based hydro-meteorological and climate monitoring system aims to monitor climate and environmental conditions in the Arctic region. The system has two satellites in its minimal configuration. According to NPO Lavochkin, two Arktika-M satellites will provide round-the-clock all-weather monitoring of the Earth surface and Arctic seas.
