MINSK. Sept 7 (Interfax) - The Czech authorities are planning to host an office of Belarusian democratic forces in Prague, the Telegram channel of Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said on Tuesday.
Tikhanovskaya has held talks with Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhanek in Vilnius. "He said that Czechia is working on opening an office of Belarusian democratic forces. Czech President Milos Zeman gave the order after he met with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya," it said.
According to the channel, the Czech Foreign Ministry and the foreign ministries of other EU member states are working on a fifth package of sanctions against Minsk. "Kulhanek underlined that the regime is a threat not only to the Belarusian people, but also to all EU member states. Sanctions will be imposed on persons behind the immigration crisis on the Belarusian border with the European Union," it said.
Tikhanovskaya has called for imposing sanctions on judges, prosecutors, and investigators involved in the criminal prosecution of political prisoners, including members of the Belarusian opposition's Coordination Council Presidium Maria Kolesnikova and Maxim Znak.
