MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Crews of NSV Utyos heavy machineguns from the Russian military base in Tajikistan are training at a highland range, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"While operating in the mountains, the machinegun crews will practice preparations for combat and will fire at airborne and ground targets. The drill will end on September 17 with firing at targets that imitate lightly armored vehicles, pillboxes and drones of the enemy," the ministry said.

The exercise is taking place at the Lyaur range in Tajikistan, the ministry said.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Central Military District's press service reported the delivery of a batch of 12.7mm Utyos heavy machineguns to the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan to enhance its combat capacities.
