MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Cosmonauts did not find any harmful impurities in the air on board the International Space Station (ISS) in the course of an air check.
"We've checked. Everything is normal," cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky told the Mission Control Center. The conversation was streamed by NASA.
Earlier, the Mission Control Center tasked Novitsky with replacing a cartridge and a cable in the air filter.
The air filter was activated following a smoke alert.
According to Roscosmos, the smoke alert went off in the Zvezda module at 4:55 a.m. Moscow Time during automatic battery charging.
"Once the air was purified, the crew went back to sleep. According to the main taskforce operating the Russian segment of the station, all systems are working normally and the composition of the air on board the station complies with regular indicators," Roscosmos said.
The state corporation said that the crew will continue to prepare for an approaching spacewalk. Novitsky and his colleague, Pyotr Dubov, will go on a spacewalk on Thursday to prepare the Nauka module for integration into the ISS.
