MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - No armed groups except for the Syrian army will be allowed to stay in the city of Daraa, and everyone else needs to leave the area with light weapons only, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"Speaking of the situation in Daraa and, more broadly, in the Syrian Arab Republic, of course, there should be no territories controlled by armed forces other than the Syrian army there," Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow.
"It has been agreed in Daraa with the assistance of our servicemen that the lawful Syrian Armed Forces will regain control over this area," Lavrov said. "According to this agreement, militants will surrender all heavy weapons to the Syrian army, will keep their light weapons, and will take them with them as they leave," he said.
